Highlights

Itinerary

Welcome to western Anatolia. We meet in Eskişehir — gateway to Phrygia — for an evening of orientation and local dinner. Stretch your legs. Exhale city noise. The journey begins.

The trail begins. Hike into valleys carved by time and faith, through layered landscapes of volcanic tuff, pine-scented silence, and timeless stillness. See traces of ancient road systems. Camp under stars, where the land tells its first stories.

Walk the Phrygian King’s Road. Past boulders shaped like altars, through valleys echoing with centuries of footsteps. Lunch in the humble village of Alanyurt, where tradition lives slow. Follow creek beds and hill curves until Dereköy welcomes us in.

Today, the stone speaks. Climb to Avdalaz Castle — a fortress carved into cliff, secret tunnels and sunlit passages still holding breath from 2000 years ago. Wander Ayazini’s sacred cliffs and sleep near whispering ridges.

Temple faces stare across ancient paths. Visit Kybele’s stone altar, walk between sacred rocks where fire once burned. See Büyük Kapıkaya and its delicate geometry etched by devotion. Hike through groves to Sarıcaova — a night between past and present.

The great face of Midas watches the land. Stand before Yazılıkaya, the monumental carved scripture to the goddess Matar. Trace the stone reliefs, the geometric memories, the symbols of a kingdom that spoke to rock. Sleep near history’s most sacred wall.

A final day among tombs and temples. Fairy chimney formations guide our path. Visit necropolises carved for kings and priests. Photograph the solemn grace of Gerdekkaya and the intricate quiet of Aslanlı Temple. End at Kümbet — earth-tired, story-rich.

A slow morning. A shared meal. Journaling, laughter, tea. Let the journey settle in your bones. Optional hammam visit or slow village walk.

We part with stone dust on our boots — and silence in our breath. Depart from Eskişehir, full.
